2020 is about to end and we are ready to welcome 2021. Regarding the transition to the new year, the City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has made an announcement that the driver’s license tickets that had been issued in 2020 will become unusable in 2021.
Hammad Abid, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of the City Traffic Police Lahore has requested the citizens to use the tickets dated 2020 before this year ends, as those shall become doubtful and unusable on January 1st, 2021. Mr. Abid gave a public reminders that there are 19 driver’s license issuing facilities and three driving test centers in Lahore. He also mentioned the door-to-door campaign initiated by the department. In this campaign, two mobile learner vans have been dedicated to passing through different areas while spreading awareness among the public about on-road etiquettes.
Just last week, a spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) conversed in media and told that the department has initiated an aggressive crackdown on those who evade e-tickets within the region. This initiative has been brought in collaboration with the City Traffic Police. Mr. Abid has formulated 17 special teams who are instructed to take strict action against anyone who evades e-tickets.
Not only this, but the department has also provided the entire traffic police force with special mobile applications. These applications have been integrated with the database of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). These will allow wardens to track e-ticket defaulters and stop them for legal procedure easily. The CTO, Mr. Abid, also ensured everyone that there will be no tolerance for those who do not abide by the rules that are in place for the safety of those on the roads.
It is very important that we, as citizens, abide by these rules and play our part in maintaining discipline on the roads.
